Welcome to the second Longboard Retreat in Peru, a unique training experience in one of the most iconic waves on Earth: Chicama, the world’s longest left-hand wave.
Located in Puerto Chicama (La Libertad region), near Trujillo, this legendary pointbreak offers endless rides, mellow walls and the perfect environment for longboard progression.
Why Chicama?
A dream destination for longboarders from all over the world.
Wave highlights:
- Wavelength: Rides can reach up to 2.5 km of continuous surfing. On the best days, you can stay on your board for more than 2 minutes, with typical sections lasting around 1 minute.
- Consistency: Works best with S–SW swells. January is low season but offers excellent, uncrowded conditions for training.
- Multiple sections: Malpaso, Keys, El Point and El Hombre. With enough swell, they connect into a nearly endless ride.
- Surfer level: Despite its fame, it’s a friendly and forgiving wave, ideal for learning and improving. The only challenge is the strong current back to the peak. An intermediate level and ability to catch waves independently is required.
- World Surfing Reserve: Declared a protected surf zone by the Peruvian government in 2013.
Chicama is a sacred spot for those seeking long, dreamy waves and true surfing history.

- or beginning to explore noseriding and nose manoeuvres.
January conditions in Chicama are ideal for:
- Surfers aiming to consolidate intermediate level,
- Riders wanting to learn or polish their noseriding.
what to expect during the 1st Peru longboard coaching Trip?
- Small group: maximum 6 students
- Longboard Coaches: Rubén Fuente y Tinne Wijffels.
- Daily water sessions, theory classes and/or video analysis (except on the first and last day)
- Priority on surfing: 2 surf sessions per day whenever conditions allow
Boat to the peak?
We don’t use boats or jet skis.
We believe paddling is part of the experience, and boats negatively affect the environment, the line-up flow and surfing etiquette.
If you join us, you will paddle… and we’ll enjoy it together.

can I rent a longboard?
For this trip, we highly recommend bringing your own longboard.
If you don’t have one, simply contact us through the WhatsApp button on the website and we’ll assist you.
